                OCTOBER 2016 PRAYER FOCUS

READ:  Joel 2:15-27

THANKSGIVING – Psalm 104:1-7

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments: Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful.  Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.  Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him – a grain offering and a drink offering For the Lord your God? (Joel 2:12-14) (Psalms 24)

Let us Pray:  Let our hearts and thoughts be pure and clean before the Lord.  Let us turn from our wicked ways and return to God.

Offer Prayers of Repentance for Sin in the Church:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. “Now my eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.” (2 Chron. 7:14-15)

Let us Pray: Let the church go from prayerlessness to prayerfulness. Let the church be humble, and truly seek the face of God.

Let us Pray:   For Revival in the Church. Revive us again Oh Lord! (Psalm 85:6)

Offer Prayers of Repentance for Sins in our Nation:

Hear the word of the Lord, You children of Israel, For the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy Or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed. (Hosea 4:1-2)

When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood.16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

(Isaiah 1:15-17)

I Need Thee Every Hour

I Am Thine, Oh Lord

  (Draw Me Nearer)

1. I am thine, O Lord, I have heard thy voice,

and it told thy love to me;
but I long to rise in the arms of faith
and be closer drawn to thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to the cross where thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

to thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord,
by the power of grace divine;
let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
and my will be lost in thine.

3. O the pure delight of a single hour
that before thy throne I spend,
when I kneel in prayer, and with thee, my God,

I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know

 till I cross the narrow sea;
there are heights of joy that I may not reach

till I rest in peace with thee.
